Thanks to a mammogram, my breast cancer was caught early. I did not feel a lump and neither did my GYN doctor. The tumor was near my chest wall (deep) and I was fortunate that it was not attached to my chest wall. After I knew the doctors were looking at a tumor I could not feel, one day I was leaning over to pick something off the floor. I had my bath towel wrapped around me. I thought to do a breast exam while I was leaning over (gravity was helping pull the breast tissue away from the chest wall). I felt the tumor! I have told all of my female friends to please include this in their self breast exams - leaning over may help detect something which is “deep” and close to your chest wall.
